England and Saracens hooker Amy Garnett will win her 100th cap on a grand stage in Saturday’s Saturday Nations Cup final against in Ontario.
England face the host nation Canada and will call upon Garnett’s vast experience as they look to defend their trophy.
After making her debut in 2000, the 35-year-old police officer has played in three World Cup finals and has help guide Saracens to two Premiership titles.
Garnett became England’s most capped player of all time during last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup, surpassing Helen Clayton’s record in their final group game versus the USA.
She passed 50 caps in 2006 and rates that match as one of the highlights of a career that started almost reluctantly.
She said: “My fiftieth cap against France in the quarter finals of the 2006 World Cup in Canada stands out. I remember it because it was among my best games and I set up an early try.
“When I was 19, I was dragged along by Aimee, a friend of mine, to join the team at university.”
England Head Coach Gary Street paid tribute to upcoming centurion as his side prepares to try and add to their RBS Six Nations title.
“This game will mark a milestone in England Women’s rugby history as Amy Garnett becomes the first ever player to win 100 caps.
“This accolade is a testament to her strength, courage and ability to have had such a long career, and her competitiveness certainly is as fierce today as it was on her first cap.”
