With so much talent on display in Round 2 of the Guinness Six Nations, there were plenty of high scorers to include in our Fantasy Rugby Team of the Week, with England star Anthony Watson the top scorer of the weekend.
The Bath winger was the only man to score more than 100 points in the second round of fixtures, as he crossed twice in England’s 41-18 victory over Italy at Twickenham to earn himself 115.5 points.
Anyone who had the fleet-footed star in their team would have had likely seen their chosen XV climb the leaderboard, with Watson’s 160 metres gained with ball in hand helping him to rack up the big numbers.
There were three more English players who top-scored this weekend, with Guinness Six Nations Player of the Match Kyle Sinckler earning himself a place at prop after another all-action performance up front to get 53.1 points.
Tom Curry also earned himself a place in the Fantasy Team of the Week with 59.4 points after 17 tackles and 44 metres gained against the Azzurri, while centre Henry Slade wasn’t far behind with a score of 56.7 for his weekend’s efforts.
Wales and Scotland played out the match of the weekend in Round 2, with Louis Rees-Zammit’s brace helping Wayne Pivac’s side to secure a dramatic 25-24 victory at BT Murrayfield.
The 20-year-old wing wizard has already had a Championship to remember this year, with three tries in the first two weekends of action, as well as earning himself the Guinness Six Nations Player of the Match award for his performance in Edinburgh.
The numbers back Rees-Zammit up big time, as he carried the ball for 65 metres, breaking two tackles and having three clean breaks in the process, helping him notch 92.0 points.
Ten tackles from Owen Watkin were crucial in keeping the Scots at bay in the dying stages at BT Murrayfield, as the centre earned himself 39.6 points, while a powerful front-row also performance paved the way for glory on the road.
Wyn Jones (58.6) and Ken Owens (37.7) produced the goods up front for Pivac’s side once again, as Wales remain unbeaten in their two fixtures in 2021, with an away win earning the duo 18 points apiece to add to their total.
Scotland gave as good as they got in Saturday’s encounter, with Stuart Hogg impressing at full-back once more with two tries and 143 metres gained, which earned anyone who selected the Scottish captain 87.1 points, while lock Jonny Gray was the only other Scot included with 28.8 points.
The action didn’t stop there though, as Sunday saw France and Ireland go toe to toe in a bruising battle in Dublin, with Les Bleus earning a first win at the Aviva Stadium since 2011 with a 15-13 success.
Charles Ollivon crossed for the first score of the game for the visitors, with the flanker’s 19 tackles also contributing to a score of 64.3 this weekend, while fellow back-rower Gregory Alldritt’s display brought up a score of 66.7.
The La Rochelle star was everywhere for Les Bleus in Dublin, as he evaded five would-be tacklers while gaining 90 metres and completing 12 tackles.
It’s no surprise to see Antoine Dupont and Matthieu Jalibert as the half-back pairing, with the deadly duo at their glittering best once again in Dublin.
Everything that Les Bleus did came through the two magicians, with their quick hands and even swifter thinking creating opportunities as the visitors went forward.
Jalibert earned himself 54.6 points with another dynamic performance at No.10, including 11 crucial tackles throughout the 80 minutes, while Dupont earned 50.0 with a couple of broken tackles helping him be among the top scorers.
