Ireland full-back Jamie Osborne has been rewarded for his early try against France after winning the public vote for the Six Nations Under-20s Try of the Round.

Richie Murphy’s side may have eventually gone down to Les Bleuets in the match that decided second place in the table, but Osborne’s effort was selected as the pick of the scores in Round 5.

The Leinster youngster showed his power to slip out of two tackles, from Alexandre Tchaptchet and Léo Barré to open the scoring against France.

It came after a fine set-move off a lineout which had allowed Ireland to work their way up to the French line, with Osborne finishing the job.

The score received 48 percent of the public vote, enough to comfortably win ahead of Arthur Relton’s try for Grand Slam winners England.

The winger had shown his pace to burst clear down the left after a clever backline move opened up the space out wide.

Thibault Debaes’ score for France, 34-28 winners against Ireland, came third, while Louis Bielle-Biarrey rounded out the nominations for try of the round.

A thrilling competition in Cardiff came to a close on Tuesday as England overcame a stubborn Italy side to clinch the Slam, while France battled past Ireland to secure second and hosts Wales finished on a high with victory over Scotland.

Jamie Osborne – IRELAND v France 48%

Arthur Relton – ENGLAND v Italy 31.6%
