As the dust settles on another enthralling weekend of Guinness Six Nations action, it’s time to cast your vote for Try of the Round.
With the pressure mounting as we build towards the latter stages of the Championship, it is perhaps no wonder that two of our entries this week are intercept tries.
There were also some mesmerising passages of display on show, as Ireland took another step towards the Grand Slam, England edged Wales and France kept their Championship hopes alive with a tense win over Scotland.
For the third consecutive week, we have whittled 18 tries down to four, now you have to turn four into one and pick your favourite.
Pierre Bruno – ITALY v Ireland
With momentum behind them and the bonus point already secured, Ireland were looking to strike for a fifth time on the stroke of half-time in Rome. From a lineout just outside the Italy 22 they spun the ball wide, hoping to exploit Italy on the flanks as they had done for two of their earlier scores. But rather than putting the game to bed they saw their lead slashed, as Pierre Bruno picked off Bundee Aki’s pass intended for Ross Byrne. The winger then put on the afterburners and sprinted home all of 70 metres to score.
Bundee Aki – Italy v IRELAND
Restored to the Ireland starting XV, Bundee Aki looked as sharp as ever in attack. His 10th international score was brilliantly taken and just reward for Ireland who continued to be bold in an end-to-end half of rugby. Andy Farrell’s side executed the basics perfectly for this score, as sharp hands from Josh van der Flier and a no-look inside ball from James Lowe sent Aki clear, the centre just managing to squeeze his way into the corner.
Anthony Watson – Wales v ENGLAND
Just 15 seconds after a scrum on the Wales 10-metre line, England were celebrating the first try of the game in Cardiff. After a slick move and inside ball from Owen Farrell, Max Malins was bearing down on the Welsh line. Malins found Ollie Lawrence who was stopped in his tracks but England recycled quickly and used the extra man out wide to send Anthony Watson over in the corner for his third score in as many Championship games against Wales.
Thomas Ramos – FRANCE v Scotland
Trailing 12 points to nil and in need of something to get them going in Paris, Finn Russell flung a miss-pass hoping to free Kyle Steyn on Scotland’s right wing. But Russell did not account for the alertness of Thomas Ramos, who read the play brilliantly, poaching the attempted pass before strolling his way under the posts for France’s third score in Paris.
