That's because with just 240 stars to spend, some highly-priced premium fantasy options are likely to take a significant portion of your overall budget. Looking around the lower-priced players, there is still a huge amount of value to be had, so today we are looking at five bargain options valued at 13 stars or less to allow you to spend big elsewhere on your team.
Starting in the Back Three, where the big bucks will likely to be spent. Three of the five most expensive players in the game fall into this category, so finding value here could be a huge differentiator. One Back Three option who continues to get better and better with every game he plays is England’s fullback, George Furbank (13 stars). In three appearances for England in the 2024 Guinness Men’s Six Nations he scored 2 tries and carried for 202 metres. He has already started this season in great form for the reigning Premiership champions, Northampton Saints, with a try, four assists, seven offloads and 211 metres carried. He’s been named in England’s starting XV for their Round 0 game against the All Blacks and with England naming a 6-2 split on their bench he will also likely play the full 80.
Another great value player named for Saturday’s England starting XV is Chandler Cunningham-South (12 stars). A dynamic and hard-carrying back rower, and exactly the kind of player that will score well in this fantasy format. He’s been eased in at club level this season in the Premiership for Harlequins with two starts and two appearances off the bench, but in that time has carried for 81 metres, beaten eight defenders and made 27 tackles. Ready to now make a big impact on the international stage after various sub appearances in the 2024 Championship and three starts in the summer tour to Japan and New Zealand (including a try against the former), he should deliver fantasy points at a great price.
With a bumper 15 points available for any try scored by a forward, you want players in the pack with an eye for the tryline. One great value player in this mould is the Scotland and Edinburgh Hooker, Ewan Ashman (12 stars). Ashman built a reputation early on in his career for scoring tries, having scored seven during the 2019 World Rugby under-20 Championship, a total that earned him tournament top try-scorer. He has since made 19 international appearances, 14 of which came off the bench and, in that time, has scored seven international tries. Whether he starts or makes an appearance off the bench, he should bring huge value (and indeed, off the bench he could be a great Supersub choice).
A great Centre option is Mason Grady of Wales (12 stars). Standing at 6' 5" and 105 kg, Grady is a dominating presence in the Welsh backline. Grady is categorised as a Centre but is equally comfortable on the wing, which is where he has been playing for Cardiff in every game so far this season in the URC. Although he only has one try to his name at club level so far this season, he’s shown plenty of threat with 239 metres carried, 11 defenders beaten and two offloads. If he does end up playing on the wing, then he could be a strong value pick that should definitely bring a decent points return.
Another Welsh Centre option, and even cheaper at 10 stars, is Max Llewellyn. Llewellyn has been one of the standout performers in the Premiership this season for Gloucester, having scored five tries (equal first in the league), beating 26 defenders (second in the league) and carrying for 315 metres (sixth in the league). With just one cap to his name, the Autumn Nations Series represents a huge opportunity for Llewellyn and if his club form can translate to the international stage, then his 10-star pricing will make him an absolute steal.
As always, make sure that these players are starting before selecting them, but these options show that, despite a tight budget of 240 stars, there are still plenty of gems in the lower price brackets to help you balance your team selection with the pricier options!
