Refereeing appointments announced for 2022 Autumn Nations Series

The match officials for the Autumn Nations Series have been announced with England’s Luke Pearce taking charge of the opening game between Scotland and Australia at BT Murrayfield Stadium.

That fascinating fixture between two of the world’s best is set for October 29 and Pearce will be assisted by his compatriots Karl Dickson, Christophe Ridley and TMO Stuart Terheege.

Round 2 will see Gregor Townsend’s side welcome Fiji to Edinburgh with Nic Berry taking the whistle in the Scottish capital.

His assistants will be New Zealand’s James Doleman and Wales’ Adam Jones, while Brett Cronan of Australia will be on TMO duty.

Eddie Jones’ England will get their Autumn Nations Series underway on November 6 with a clash against Michael Cheika’s continually improving Argentina.

Andrew Brace will referee the clash with support from TMO Marius Jonker and assistants Frank Murphy and Pierre Brousset.

Italy and Samoa will collide in an intriguing contest officiated by Ridley and his assistants Pearce and Katlil Harrison as well as TMO Brendon Pickerill.

Also on Saturday November 5, World Rugby’s highest-ranked team will take on the 2019 Rugby World Cup winners when Ireland host South Africa at the Aviva Stadium.

Georgian referee Nika Amashukeli will be joined by assistants Mathieu Raynal and Andrea Piard as well as TMO Terheege for this one.

New Zealand also get their Autumn Nations Series underway on the same day at the Principality Stadium against Wales, with Englishman Wayne Barnes in the middle.

His compatriot Dickson and Italy’s Gianluca Gnecchi will run the line Cardiff with Ireland’s Brian MacNeice on duty as the TMO.

South Africa’s Jaco Peyper will oversee France v Australia at the Stade de France in Saturday’s final match.

His assistants will be Ben O’Keeffe and Craig Evans while Tom Foley will be TMO for what is set to be a pulsating encounter.

James Doleman will take charge when England coach Jones goes head-to-head with his former side Japan on November 12 in Round 3.

Nic Berry and Craig Evans will be Doleman’s assistants and France’s Eric Gauzins will act as the TMO at Twickenham for the visit of the Brave Blossoms.

Ireland against Fiji at the Aviva Stadium will be refereed by Peyper, his assistants Tual Trainini and Jordan Way as well as TMO Chris Hart.

Brendon Pickerill will referee the game between Italy and Australia at Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence where he will be joined by assistants Adam Leal and Raynal plus TMO Jonker.

Wayne Pivac’s Wales face Argentina in their second game, and Ben O’Keeffe will oversee affairs in Cardiff.

His assistants will be Angus Gardner and Piardi as well as TMO Marius van der Westhuizen of South Africa.

Barnes will take charge of his second game when France face South Africa with Dickson and Ridley named as his assistants alongside TMO MacNeice.

And the third round of action will draw to a close when Scotland take on the All Blacks at BT Murrayfield.

Ireland’s Murphy will referee the clash alongside assistants Brace and Chris Busby while Foley will be TMO.

Nic Berry will be the man in the middle when England host New Zealand at Twickenham in a repeat of the 2019 World Cup semi-final in Round 4 of the Autumn Nations Series.

Damon Murphy and Nika Amashukeli will be his assistants while MacNeice has been selected as the TMO for the fixture on November 19.

Piardi will hold the whistle when Georgia travel to the Principality Stadium to take on Wales on the same day.

His assistants will be Brousset and Gnecchi with Pickerill in place as the TMO.

Italy will face the Springboks at Stadio Luigi Ferraris with Mike Adamson set to referee his first game of the Autumn Nations Series.

His assistants will be Matthew Carley and Sam Grove-White while the TMO will be Gauzins.

Scotland against Argentina at BT Murrayfield will be overseen by referee Dickson, assistants Pearce and Ian Tempest and TMO Cronan.

Ireland and Australia will do battle at the Aviva Stadium with New Zealand’s O’Keeffe running the rule over that fixture.

His assistants will be Doleman and Trainini while Terheege will serve as TMO for the third time in this year’s Autumn Nations Series.

And at the Stadium de Toulouse, Round 4 will conclude when France host Japan under the watchful eye of referee Brace.

His assistants will be Murphy and Ridley while Foley has been selected as TMO.

In Round 5, Pivac’s Wales will host Australia at the Principality Stadium on November 26.

Carley will take charge of his first game in the 2022 Autumn Nations Series with the support of Pearce and Chris Busby while Joy Neville will be on hand as the TMO.

England’s final Autumn Nations Series game against world champions South Africa takes place on the same day and referee Gardner will be ably assisted by Brace, Brousset and TMO Ben Whitehouse.
