The Autumn Nations Series is well and truly up and running with a thrilling second week of action seeing tries aplenty and a few games that went down to the wire. Now it is time to vote for the Try of the Round.
We have picked out four beauties from a host of candidates, so remind yourselves of them and vote for your favourite.
Andrew Conway (Ireland)
Ireland’s clash with Japan was all about Johnny Sexton’s 100th appearance for his country, but Andrew Conway stole the limelight with a brilliant hat-trick.
On a day where Ireland played with verve throughout, it was Conway’s first try that was the pick of the bunch.
There was a clear intent from Ireland to keep the ball alive and from Sexton’s half-break, Josh van der Flier and Tadhg Beirne did exactly that with slick offloads. Bundee Aki was dragged down but quick ball for Jamison Gibson-Park ensured that Japan were scrambling.
Spotting space in behind, the scrum-half put in a delightful low cross-kick that bounced up perfectly for Conway to go over in the corner.
Sevu Reece (New Zealand)
A second nomination in as many weeks for Sevu Reece, who started an All Black onslaught in the final 20 minutes against Italy.
Ofa Tu’ungafasi picked and went from a ruck in his own half, catching the Italian defence unawares before finding Finlay Christie, sitting on the shoulder as every good nine does.
He raced a further 20 metres before feeding Reece inside him. The winger then turned on the gas and had the legs to stay clear of Matteo Minozzi and set the All Blacks on their way.
Marcus Smith (England)
The excitement around Marcus Smith was palpable at Twickenham and his introduction in the second half coincided with England cutting loose in a big win over Tonga.
But while he earns the nomination for the Try of the Round, this score was all about Henry Slade.
Fed the ball by Smith about 15 metres from his own line, Slade had too much pace for Sione Vailanu coming across. He rounded him on the arc and then sprinted clear up to the Tongan 10-metre line before feeding Smith inside him to run in the remaining 40 metres.
Ewan Ashman (Scotland)
Hookers enjoyed themselves this weekend with ten tries in all and the pick of those came from debutant Ewan Ashman as Scotland edged out Australia.
Called into action early in the first half, Ashman showed a winger’s finishing skills in the second with what proved to be the decisive score.
Receiving the ball out wide with Izaia Perese coming across, he did brilliantly to ride the tackle and get the ball down before any part of his body was forced into touch. A dream start to his Test career for the 21-year-old.
