Round 1 of the first-ever Autumn Nations Cup produced tries of all shapes and sizes but we’ve whittled them down to just four that are in the running for Try of the Round.

Now it’s up to you, the fans, to decide which score is worthy of that crown – James Lowe’s powerful finish, Duhan van der Merwe’s unstoppable line, Matteo Minozzi finishing off Italy’s scintillating team score or Elliot Daly’s dot down after Jonathan Joseph’s scythe through the Georgia defence?

You can make your selection at the bottom of this page but first, a reminder of what the four tries in contention looked like.

James Lowe – IRELAND vs Wales

Back on Friday night, Ireland earned a scrum deep in Wales territory late in the game and No.8 Caelan Doris wheeled off the back to catch the Welsh defence unawares.

He drew a defender and popped a perfect pass to James Lowe on the crash ball and the winger showed his power to barrel over the line from ten metres out to cap a perfect international debut.

Duhan van der Merwe – SCOTLAND vs Italy

Already voted as Player of the Round for Round 1 by the fans, Duhan van der Merwe’s first-half try for Scotland against Italy has him in the running for a double.

With Scotland knocking at the Italian door, the winger ran a gorgeous line to collect a fizzed Ali Price pass and sped through the defensive line to touch down.

Matteo Minozzi – ITALY vs Scotland

Italy had just conceded the Duhan van der Merwe try mentioned above when they bounced back in style almost immediately.

Marco Zanon made a powerful initial break, bouncing off one tackle, handing off another defender and keeping the play alive with a pass to Marcello Violi.

Violi spun in a tackle and flicked the ball to Mattia Bellini, who somehow produced a one-handed offload to the supporting Matteo Minozzi to go over in the corner.

Elliot Daly – ENGLAND vs Georgia

England had fronted up in the early stages against Georgia, taking them on in the forwards, but the backs got to stretch their legs just before half-time as they ran in a superb score.

Off first-phase lineout ball, the play was moved towards the right where Jonathan Joseph darted through a gap in the defensive line after a great dummy run by Ollie Lawrence, then drew the last man and fed Elliot Daly for the run-in.
