One of two hat-trick scorers on the day, Wright started and finished the scoring in a record-breaking 52-20 win at Principality Stadium.
A year on from a 40-6 defeat to Wales in the group stage of the Rugby World Cup, the Wallabies showed how far they have come as they backed up last week’s win in Twickenham with a stirring victory.
Wright was at the heart of everything they did well. Even before he opened the scoring, he had gone on one incisive run that ended with Samu Kerevi being held up over the line.
A few minutes later, he was the man finishing a try all by himself. Collecting the ball on the 22, Wright bumped off the tackle of Blair Murray before racing away and over to open the scoring.
In the second half, it was Wright’s intercept of a Sam Costelow pass which effectively sealed the victory, sprinting up to pick off the ball and sprint in from halfway.
And he completed the hat-trick immediately after being named Player of the Match, popping up on the shoulder of Tate McDermott to sprint home once again.
He was understandably thrilled at the way Australia had backed up their win over England.
He said: “That was an awesome 80-minute performance. They are games you like to be a part of. Putting in back-to-back performances is huge for us. It's something we've probably struggled with a little bit in recent times.”
After a difficult Rugby Championship, Australia look to be building something, with Wright at the heart of it.
Having been omitted from last year’s World Cup squad, the 27-year-old is in the form of his life during this Wallaby renaissance.
Next up? A trip to Edinburgh to take on Scotland to try to make it three from three.
