In what was a weekend of wonder tries, Capuozzo saw off tough competition—including Scotland’s Duhan van der Merwe, France’s Léo Barré, and England’s Tommy Freeman—to take the accolade.
The award, decided by a fan vote, came after his stunning score in Italy’s victory over Wales in Rome. Capuozzo's finish secured 44% of the votes, with Van der Merwe's score against Ireland receiving the second-highest vote (21%).
As the first quarter neared its end with the score at 3-0, Paolo Garbisi expertly gathered the ball from a dominant Italian scrum. Showcasing his exceptional skills, he executed a brilliant show-and-go, followed by a perfectly-weighted grubber kick. Capuozzo, demonstrating his dangerous top speed, was the fastest to respond, reaching the ball to dot it down.
