England lineout coach Simon Hardy has announced he will step down from the international set-up after 22 years.
Hardy has been a coach with the England for 18 years primarily working with the forwards and specialising in lineout throwing.
Most recently, he has been working with Jamie George and Luke Cowan-Dickie who were both part of England’s Grand Slam-winning squad earlier this year.
Hardy was a key member of the coaching squad that helped Sir Clive Woodward’s squad win the World Cup in 2003 as well as RBS 6 Nations titles in 2000, 2001 and 2003.
“Throughout my time with the RFU it has been exciting and rewarding,” he said.
“I feel lucky to have experienced so much success and to have worked with such incredible players and coaches.
“I look forward to using these experiences in future challenges.”
Hardy has also been involved with England Under-20s on their way to three World Rugby Under-20 Championship titles in the past four years and Six Nations victories in 2013 and 2015.
He was also England’s lineout specialist during the 2015 Rugby World Cup last year where England were unable to progress from the group stage.
