Owen Farrell finished the 2019 Guinness Six Nations as the top points scorer and is now on the verge of breaking into the top-five accumulators of all time in Rugby’s Greatest Championship.
Both Farrell and Jonathan Sexton – who managed 23 points in this year’s Championship for Ireland compared to Farrell’s 59 – are just outside the top five.
Sexton’s career total of 380 puts him seventh while Farrell is just 15 behind him in eighth on 365.

First in their sights in 2020 will be Scotland’s Chris Paterson on 381, while Wales’ Leigh Halfpenny is the only active player in the top five.
The Wales full-back missed the 2019 Championship through injury but has a total of 388 points, his compatriots Neil Jenkins (406) and Stephen Jones (467) are above him.
Both are in range for Farrell and Sexton – Farrell in particularly is still only 27 and has plenty of miles left on the clock.
But they will have a way to go to catch up with the top two of all time, Jonny Wilkinson (546) and the overall leader Ronan O’Gara (557).
Farrell did however crack the top five this year for career conversions in the Six Nations, his tally of 63 has lifted him to fourth.
Greig Laidlaw is also on the verge of breaking into the top ten of all-time points scorers.
The scrum-half, who plays his club rugby for Clermont Auvergne in France, kicked 21 points for Scotland in this year’s Championship to take his career tally to 255.
16 more points in the 2020 Championship will see him pass David Humphreys with Laidlaw’s fellow Scot Gavin Hastings next in his sights.
Grand Slam winner Gareth Anscombe was the second top points scorer in the 2019 Championship with 43 – 20 of which came in the final game in Cardiff against Ireland.
Tommaso Allan was third, totalling 34 points for Italy and broke his career century for points in Rugby’s Greatest Championship to sit on 105.
The Azzurri’s record points scorer in the Six Nations is the great Diego Dominguez on 162 and Allan is now drawing close to the talismanic No.10.
