Stuart McInally’s try proved to be the difference for Scotland, as they ended their 2020 Guinness Six Nations campaign with a 14-10 victory over Wales in Llanelli.

Chances were at a premium in the early stages at Parc y Scarlets, with a Finn Russell penalty the only points on the board in the opening half hour.

That soon changed when Rhys Carre bundled over from close range for the hosts, with the prop dotting down under the posts after a spell of pressure on the Scottish line.

Adam Hastings added another penalty for the visitors as the half-time whistle sounded, as Wayne Pivac’s side went into the break with a 7-6 advantage.

And that’s the way it stayed until the hour mark, when McInally latched onto the back of a surging maul that the Welsh defence just couldn’t handle, and promptly got the game-winning score.

A penalty apiece from Leigh Halfpenny and Stuart Hogg rounded off the scoring, as Wales’ reign as Guinness Six Nations champions came to a frustrating end.
