James Hook has been warned not to expect things all his own way at new club Gloucester Rugby this season.
The 29-year-old, who won two of his 76 Wales caps at the RBS 6 Nations earlier this year, penned a three-year deal last month to join the Cherry & Whites from relegated Perpignan.
Hook cited the chance to nail down his favoured fly-half spot as the main motivation behind his move to the Premiership, having often been asked to plug gaps at centre, full-back or wing for club and country.
However, compatriot Aled Thomas, who also made the move to Kingsholm this summer, insists Hook will have a fight on his hands to nab the No10 shirt.
“As a player you want to play every game. I haven’t come here to sit on the bench,” Thomas told the Western Daily Press. “I want to play as much as possible.
“James and Billy [Burns] are very good No10s, so there’s a lot of competition, but if I can concentrate on my own game, work hard and impress when I get opportunities I can push for a starting place.
“It’s all about trying to get Gloucester to the top of the table and hopefully I can play a big part in that.”
