Dan Edwards – Wales
The 2025 Guinness Men’s Six Nations Championship opener last Friday was already a big occasion for Wales, but for young Ospreys fly-half Dan Edwards it became an unforgettable night.
Sitting nervously on the sidelines, Edwards knew his debut could come at any moment. That moment arrived earlier than expected when centre Owen Watkin was forced off with a knee injury in the 27th minute.
As he crossed the touchline, Edwards officially became Wales' 1,210th capped international, fulfilling a dream he had held since childhood. Reflecting on the milestone, Edwards said: "It was really surreal, a great moment for me and my family. I'm so thankful for everyone who's helped me along the way."
He admitted to battling nerves throughout the day, struggling to eat before the match, but once on the pitch, he settled into a rhythm and relished every moment.
With Wales now preparing for a crucial clash in Rome against Italy, Edwards is in line for his first international start—a challenge he will undoubtedly embrace.
Cadan Murley – England
As England travelled to Dublin aiming to repeat their 2024 heroics against Ireland, Cadan Murley was about to make his mark in a different way. From the first whistle, the Harlequins winger became England's 1,465th international, making his debut in the intense cauldron of the Aviva Stadium.
Murley was a constant threat in attack, registering three line breaks and carrying for 70 metres. His standout moment came when he latched onto Henry Slade's precise kick-through, outsprinting Ireland's Josh van der Flier to score his first England try.
It was a debut to remember, not just for Murley himself but also for fantasy rugby players: his 38-point haul ranked him as the fourth-highest scoring back-three player of the opening round, with 22,417 fans selecting him in their teams.
With such an impactful first outing, Murley has firmly put himself in contention for more England starts in the weeks ahead, if he can overcome the foot injury sustained during the match.
Luca Rizzoli – Italy
For Zebre Parma prop Luca Rizzoli, his long-awaited Italy debut came in the 67th minute of the defeat to Scotland, adding his name to the list of Azzurri internationals as cap number 745.
Following in the footsteps of legendary props like Andrea Lo Cicero and Martin Castrogiovanni, Rizzoli made his international bow with the pride and passion that typifies Italian rugby.
Though his time on the field was brief, it marked the beginning of what he hopes will be a long and successful international career. With Italy continuing their campaign in front of their home crowd in Rome this weekend, Rizzoli will be eager to build on his debut and push for more minutes in the blue jersey.
