Rob Moffat has called for drastic improvements if Edinburgh are to make the Magners League play-offs despite seeing off the charge of Scarlets at Murrayfield.

Fly-half Phil Godman led Edinburgh to a 24-20 win with 14 points from the boot while tries from Roddy Grant and Tim Visser made the victory certain.

However Edinburgh were far from their best and a try apiece from Phil John and Andy Fenby ensured Scarlets pushed their Scottish counterparts all the way.

And Moffat insists Edinburgh must improve and fast if they are to maintain their standing in the Magners League top four. “I thought we were very sloppy and made far too many individual errors,” said Moffat.

“With the amount of ball we had, we should have scored four tries and won a bonus point.

“We obviously have to win all our games now as it’s very tight at the top, even in points difference so every point is very important.”
