At the conclusion of the 2017 RBS 6 Nations a total of 12 players have been shortlisted for the Player of the Championship award.

We’ve broken them down one by one looking at what they have achieved during the Championship.

Minutes played: 271

The only player on the shortlist not to feature in every game, it says much for Conor Murray’s performances that he was still one of the 12 players nominated.

The Ireland scrum-half came into the Championship on top form, having been named man of the match in the historic win over New Zealand last November, and he carried that form with him in 2017.

His star turn came against France in Round Three, scoring the only try of the game from close range and combining with Johnny Sexton in the half-backs to seize control of the match.

Ireland went onto win 19-9 with Murray earning the man-of-the-match award for his performance.

A constant threat around the breakdown, Murray showed his all-round game with some clever box-kicking and control of his forwards.
