France second row Alexandre Flanquart has avoided an operation after fracturing his eye socket while in club action.
The 26-year-old featured in all five of France’s RBS 6 Nations matches this year, as they finished fifth overall.
However he was back with club side Stade Français and forced off early in their European clash with Leicester after suffering the injury.
It was feared that he might miss the remainder of the season, but Flanquart revealed that he will not require surgery and will just need to rest up for a few weeks.
He said: “A fracture but no need for an operation. Just shaken up!
“A few weeks rest before the end of the season with Stade Français.”
France travel to Argentina in the summer, but will do so without players from the Top 14 semi-finalists.
Stade will not make the play-offs this season after a difficult season, so if Flanquart recovers in time, he could well be an important part of the squad in Argentina.
