France lock Paul Willemse has won the Guinness Six Nations Try of Round 3 for his finish to a sensational team move in Les Bleus’ win over Scotland in Edinburgh.

Willemse’s effort was one of two France tries nominated for the prize, along with Yoram Moefana’s impressive first-half score in the 36-17 victory at BT Murrayfield.

Both tries received plenty of plaudits, coming inside the opening 15 minutes as France flew out of the blocks in the Scottish capital to keep their Grand Slam dream alive.

But in the end there proved to be only choice for the voting fans, with Willemse taking the top prize after completing a move that is a serious contender for one of the tries of the Championship.

Just eight minutes in a Scottish kick deep into French territory had Antoine Dupont scrambling back, but after collecting the ball he skipped past Darcy Graham and Rory Darge with ease before powering over Ali Price.

Gaël Fickou was on hand to put Cyril Baille through a gap before Fickou again recycled for Julien Marchand to feed Willemse to finish, Dupont’s involvement no doubt helping him eventually win the Guinness Six Nations Player of the Match award.

When it came to the public vote, Willemse claimed the win after receiving 35% of the total votes, with his teammate Moefana picking up 23% of the vote to finish in third.

The two Frenchmen were separated by Joey Carbery’s score for Ireland, which narrowly edged out Moefana with 25% of the vote, while Josh Adams’ try against England received 17%.
