Lorenzo Cannone (Italy)

Italy number eight Lorenzo Cannone put in a powerhouse performance against Wales as Italy claimed an historic 22-15 win in Rome.

Cannone topped Italy's rankings for carries (12), metres carried (105) and successful tackles (17), as well as joint-top for dominant tackles, topping most of the round two statistics out of every game.

A true Italian gladiator in the cauldron of the Stadio Olimpico.

Fin Smith (England)

England and Northampton youngster Fin Smith was a pivotal member of the side that shocked France, sneaking a 26-25 win at the death.

In his first start at the Allianz Stadium, Smith took over kicking duties from namesake Marcus, and the former U20 Six Nations Grand Slam winner never looked back.

Smith slotted two conversions late on in the game, including assisting Elliot Daly’s 79th-minute try with some slick handling.

Smith was influential throughout and earned himself the Guinness Player of the Match award.

Sam Prendergast (Ireland)

A weekend for young fly-halves in round two, as Ireland newbie Sam Prendergast joined 22-year-old Fin Smith in being named Guinness Player of the Match.

In his first away Test match and second start in the Championship, Prendergast put in a strong kicking display from the tee (12 points) and in open play, as well as orchestrating play with remarkable precision and a maturity well beyond his years.

He also caught the eye with superb distribution: his 25-metre pass to Calvin Nash in the build-up to Ireland’s first try was one of the highlights of this game.

Jamison Gibson-Park (Ireland)

Up for his second Player of the Round nomination, Ireland and Leinster scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park produced another performance worthy of consideration for the British and Irish Lions nine jersey.

Gibson-Park combined brilliantly with his fellow Leinsterman Prendergast to orchestrate the Irish attack that was so deadly against Scotland.

He varied his play well with deft offloads and clever box kicks, with one of the latter executed perfectly for Hugo Keenan to gather deep inside Scotland territory in the lead-up to Jack Conan’s try.
