Tuipulotu at the double as England U20 storm past Scotland U20

Scotland U20 (8) 13

Player of the Match: Kepu Tuipulotu (England)

England stormed into a commanding 31-8 halftime lead over Scotland with a dominant first-half display in Newcastle.

The hosts wasted no time making their mark, as debutant Campbell Ridl crossed early to ignite the scoreboard.

Scotland responded with a well-executed crossfield kick try finished by Watson, but from there, England’s physicality and ruthless finishing took control. Kepu Tuipulotu powered over for their second, before Kane James, Tye Raymont, and a second from Tuipulotu secured the bonus point before the break. Coen was pinpointed from the tee, ensuring England’s lead kept growing.

Discipline proved costly for Scotland, with Urwin shown a yellow card, and their defensive frailties were exposed by England’s relentless attack. There were glimpses of promise—Brown slotted a long-range penalty, and they enjoyed a spell inside England’s 22—but crucial opportunities went begging. England’s dominance at the set-piece, particularly at the maul and breakdown, left them in complete control heading into the second half.

England stormed to a resounding 57-13 victory over Scotland, turning on the style in the second half to run in multiple tries and underline their dominance.

The hosts wasted little time extending their lead after the break, executing a slick line-out move that saw Burrow crash over for their sixth try. Pearson soon followed with a sharp finish, before Bracken and Hall added further gloss to the scoreline with clinical efforts. Off the bench, Bellamy made a telling impact, delivering pinpoint assists and slotting conversions to keep England firmly in control.

Scotland had their moments, with Duncan crossing for a well-worked try, but handling errors and penalties repeatedly halted their momentum. As they looked to rally late on, England’s relentless defensive pressure forced crucial turnovers, snuffing out any hopes of a comeback.

The final try of the game saw Ridl, bust through the middle, and the forwards got involved before the outside centre Hall finished things off after a pass from Lilley. Slick stuff by England. Bellamy converted, which brought the score to 57-13.

Tuipulotu was at the heart of England’s commanding display, earning Player of the Match honours as his side closed out a statement victory to continue their strong campaign.
