In the round five meeting last March, Italy were winning 15-0 at half-time and Boshoff and co were up against it.
However, cheered on by a home crowd at Cardiff Arms Park, Wales turned on the style in the second 40 minutes and recorded a 27-15 bonus point win.
Fast forward to this year’s round two match and Bristol Bears wing Boshoff, 19, and his team mates are looking for another victory against the Italians away from home at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo in Treviso.
“I have fond memories from the Italy game last year,” Boshoff, who starts in the number 14 jersey this time around, said.
“The first half was tough for us in that one and credit to Italy, but we regrouped and always had belief that we could turn things around and the team played some good stuff in the second half to do just that.
“It meant that we had won two games in the tournament and sent us into that summer’s World Rugby Championship with a bit of confidence.
“We know that Italy are a good side and at home they will want to play well for their fans this time around, but we have belief that we can go there this Friday and get another positive result if we stick to our processes and play the way we know that we can.”
The trip to Treviso means that Wales have started this year’s U20 Six Nations with two away games.
In round one last Saturday evening they were right in the game with France in the Stade de la Rabine in Vannes at the break at just 21-12 down.
Eventually they lost out 63-19 as the hosts got their tails up, but Boshoff, who scored a try in the 16th minute, believes there were plenty of positives to take out of it in defeat.
“We have really used this week to review the positives from that game and build on them going into Italy,” he explained.
“In the first half I think that we showed what we are all about in attack and defence and with a little bit more luck we could have gone in at half-time leading.
“Our forwards were excellent throughout the match and really matched France physically throughout and as a backline maybe w just didn’t quite fire in the second half.
“Once France got on a roll in attack they took the game away from us and they are a very good side, but when we reviewed the game a couple of days later there were lots of good bits to take from it from our point of view and we want to take that forward now.
“I think we have a really exciting squad together this year and we are looking forward to showing people what we are all about over the coming weeks.”
Wales rugby teams at all levels always get great support when they play at home so, once the Italy match is done and dusted, it is no surprise that Boshoff, who played in last year’s World Rugby Championship in South Africa, is looking forward to round three.
That is when they will host Ireland at Rodney Parade in Newport before, in round five, they will welcome England to Cardiff Arms Park.
“I am sure the grounds will be buzzing for those games and we really appreciate all the home support we get,” he stated.
“Those are occasions to look forward to, but for now all of our focus is on Italy and getting a positive result out there this Friday.”
