The TikTok Women’s Six Nations was bigger and better than ever in 2022, with plenty of drama and a grandstand finish on the final day of action.
Defending champions England beat France in Bayonne in a Round 5 title decider to finish with an unblemished record, while Wales, Italy, Scotland and Ireland all played a significant part to make this a truly memorable Championship.
In what was the biggest staging of the TikTok Women’s Six Nations yet, we take a look at some of the key numbers from five thrilling weekends of action this spring.
39 – points scored by Emily Scarratt. Despite fitness concerns after a serious ankle injury in 2021, Scarratt proved key for England and scored more points than any other player. Two tries, a penalty and 13 conversions from her helped power England to the title.
12 – combined Laure Sansus tries and assists. The 28-year-old was named Player of the Championship after what proved to be her final TikTok Women’s Six Nations. Her six tries and six try assists were the most of any player on both accounts.
273 – passes made by Kathryn Dane. No one made more successful passes in the Championship than Ireland’s scrum half, who proved an integral part of the side that picked up impressive victories over Italy and Scotland.
23 – lineouts won by Gwen Crabb. Crabb proved almost unbeatable at the lineout, winning more across Wales’ five matches than the likes of Abbie Ward for England and Emma Wassell for Scotland.
60 – carries made by Marlie Packer. Packer proved to be one of the standout players of the TikTok Women’s Six Nations and her number of successful carries went unmatched. The 33-year-old also achieved the most turnovers, with nine across England’s matches.
6 – penalty goals from Helen Nelson. Nelson proved one of the strongest kickers of the TikTok Women’s Six Nations this year with more penalty scores than anyone else, scoring one fewer point than Scarrat with the boot, and was a key player for Scotland throughout.
214 – combined tackles by Lucia Gai, Maria Magatti and Melissa Bettoni. Italy’s leading tackling trio were all in the top five for most tackles made at the conclusion of the Championship, making significant contributions to victories over Scotland and Wales.
15,836 – spectators watching England versus Ireland. The Red Roses set a new record attendance for a home match when they beat Ireland 69-0 at Welford Road. Wales, Scotland, and Ireland also set home attendance records in a ground-breaking month for the women’s game. Overall, there was a 62% increase in crowd numbers compared to 2019, the last time fans had been able to attend all matches.
174m – the number of video views generated. An astonishing level of video engagement showed just how much the 2022 TikTok Women’s Six Nations captured the public’s imagination. More people than ever enjoyed video content across a wide range of platforms.
