England winger Abby Dow suffered a broken leg in their TikTok Women’s Six Nations clash with Wales in Gloucester.
The flyer was hurt during the first half of the encounter that England went on to win 58-5, with the game held up as she received lengthy treatment.
She was then transferred to hospital and it has been confirmed that she will now undergo surgery on the leg before beginning her rehabilitation.
A statement from the RFU read: “Everyone at England Rugby sends their best wishes to Abby and wishes her a full and speedy recovery.
“On behalf of Abby, we’d like to thank England supporters and the wider rugby family for the messages of support we have received following Saturday’s match.”
While usually a winger, Dow was playing full-back against Wales, having established herself as one of the key figures in the current Red Roses side.
Despite her absence, England were able to maintain their perfect start to the Championship as they ran out 58-5 victors, running in ten tries in all against a Wales team who were also coming into the game unbeaten.
England lead the TikTok Women’s Six Nations table with 15 points from a possible 15, level with France but topping the pile on points difference.
Next up is a home clash with Ireland in Leicester before a potential title decider in France in Round 5.
