Dylan Tierney-Martin made it three tries in two matches in the Under-20s Six Nations as Ireland overcame Scotland 24-5 at Netherdale.

Following last week’s 35-27 over England, the Irish made it two from two in impressive fashion despite tricky conditions against the Scots.

Carl Hogg’s team had fallen to Italy last time out, and were unable to bounce back against a powerful Irish unit.

Connacht hooker Tierney-Martin, who only switched from the back row last season, had scored twice against the English and he crossed for the opening try in a tight first half, forcing his way over from close range.

Harry Byrne converted, in addition to an earlier penalty, to make it 10-0 to the visitors at the break.

That was how the score remained until 15 minutes remaining when No.8 John Hodnett crossed after some sustained pressure.

Byrne converted once more, with Scotland having a lot to do to come back into it.

Despite that, it was Scotland who struck next, Connor Boyle the beneficiary of a pushover try, with Ireland seeking a final flourish with two tries still required for a bonus point.

They got the first of those with a brilliant individual effort from winger Jonathan Wren, again converted by Byrne but there was no time for the fourth try.
